I recently had my late father’s Koken chair restored by a company in Los Angeles. The restoration was good, however I noticed the Koken name plate that was on the back of the chair had been left off. When I notified them of this oversight, there was no apology but rather “my upholstery guy left it off, I’ll see if I can find it…”. After multiple requests, I was sent what I believe to a reproduction badge (and in horrible condition).
I am adamant about the return of the original badge, and it seems like these guys couldn’t care less. Beyond them taking something that was my father’s, I’m concerned they will be putting this on another char to increase it’s worth.
I’d like to ask those familiar with the buying/selling/collecting of these chairs, are my concerns justified at all…?
