I am buying a Emil J. Paidar chair that is all original in very good condition. The bottom of the seat has the original paper with tack nails attaching it to the wood base. The date on the chair is 2-20-52 as to the DOM. This chair belonged to a life long friend of mine whose dad was a barber. He believes his dad got the chair in 1962 or so for his shop. It has the red in color upholstered fabric which back then I would assume is leather. The chrome plating has all the freckling of the finish that is expected for a 65 year old chair would or should have that was used daily as a functioning working chair. I am debating on whether to have the chrome refinished as well as the foot rest or just leave it in the condition it is. I also struggle with having it reupholstered in a similar colored leather material. It is missing the head rest but I suspect I will find one if I look for the chair.
I will post pictures soon. Glad to have found this forum as I have my shop/business in a barber shop motif to compliment by business which is the UAS industry which really there is no connection but I love barber shop paraphernalia.
