Hi there, i just bought a vintage koken chair. i think it is a premier/president…cant find much info about it online. But i a trying to recover its serial number and what year it has been produced, but cant find any labels on or in it. I read that it should be under the seat on the wood but nothing there.
It is a plain red leather version with metallic armchairs and no diagonal metallic stripes like you sometimes see with duo colors.
Hope someone can help me out. I am based in The Netherlands.Tom MarksGuestI have a restored Theo A. Kochs antique barber chair and child seat, ca 1920, Factory Number 176450. Do you know the year and place it was manufactured?

I would also like to know how to decipher the SN to determine age.William HaywardGuestHello:
my barber of over 45 years is retiring and has 3 Koken chairs to sell. He believes they are over 100 years old, having been used by 3 generations of barbers. the serial numbers are 161985, 161986 and 162009. They are in very good condition (nickel and porcelain) with everything working. Reupholstering would really make them ‘Pop’! Can you identify the actual year of manufacture from the serial numbers? He would like to sell them before the end of June 2018 so as to not have to move them to his garage at home. What would be his best avenue to sell them? Also, any idea of what colour the original leather would have been? It is currently black. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
